Exodus, as we know, is the book that records God’s deliverance
of the children of Israel from slavery in Egypt. In Chapter 6 God speaks to
Moses and gives him a message for the children of Israel.
Exodus 6:6-8, (6)
“Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out
from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage,
and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. (7) ‘I
will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I
am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the
Egyptians. (8) ‘And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the
Lord’. ”
Pharaoh the ruler of the Egyptians is a type of Satan, the Devil.
Satan desires to have all mankind under the bondage of sin and death. He doesn’t
give up any soul without a struggle.
In Ephesians chapter 2 Satan is called “the prince of the power of the air.” Let’s
look at verses 1-3.
(1)”And you He made
alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, (2) in which you once walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of
the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, (3) among whom
also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the
desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath,
just as the others.”
In Scripture the number 7 is the number of perfection, or
completeness.
(1)
I will bring
you out.
(2)
I will rescue
you.
(3)
I will redeem
you.
(4)
I will take
you as My people.
(5)
I will be
your God.
(6)
I will bring
you into the land.
(7)
I will give
it to you as a heritage.
Note the completeness of the seven I will’s; which God brought to pass in the experiences of the
children of Israel.
Brought out – Rescued
– Redeemed – Became God’s people – God became their God – Brought into the
land – The land became their heritage.
Note the similarities in our time. God brings us out of the
bondage of sin and death. God rescues us from the sentence of death. God
redeems us through the blood of Christ. We become God’s people. God becomes our
God. We will be brought into the heavenly land. In heaven we have “...an inheritance incorruptible and
undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.” (1
Peter 1:4).
Are you passing through trials and tribulations? So did the
children of Israel. God brought them out of Egypt in order to bring them into
the Promised Land; a land “...flowing
with milk and honey.”
Fellow believer in Christ, keep looking up and keep going
on. “For our light affliction, which is
but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of
glory.” (2 Corinthians 4:17).
